Removing barriers to sustainability action through Data and AI, facilitating organisations to accelerate sustainability progress.
Our sustainability accelerators contain a multitude of data sources from climate models, biodiversity and geopolitical risk to 1000's of data assured carbon conversion factors - so you can leverage out-of-the-box insights, forecasts and recommendations
What We Provide
Start your Sustainability Journey by understanding
our accelerators
Understanding scope 3 emissions based on spend is good first start to make some progress towards carbon reduction goals, but our Greener Data accelerators take you to the next level of action proving invaluable to every facet of the business. Our accelerators enrich your sales and procurement data with a range of additional data sets covering climate, biodiversity, geopolitical risk, upstream transportation emissions and more. Empowering your teams with impact insights but also forecasts and recommendations of where the biggest reduction impacts can be made across all 15 categories of scope 3.
Need to understand how your business can make effective changes throughout the design, use, upgrade and demolition phases of your building's life cycle? Allow us to create or enrich your BIM files, providing you with a breakdown of embodied carbon for every component of your building. Allowing further focus on improvements with low carbon materials, intelligent energy management, longevity and recyclability.
Take a 360 view of ESG performance for some of the largest companies across 46 numbers of industries. The Sustainability Studio accelerator will provide you with 1 ESG score, 3 pillar scores, 8 theme scores and 36 sub theme scores per year, allowing insight into public and investor perception of your sustainability performance. Initial scores are provided for GRI, but mapping to SASB, TCFD, CDP, GRESB and more is also available. Why not go one step further and access additional features providing UN SDG analytics, controversy scores and revenue at risk predictions.
Challenge
Our client had no accurate way of calculating their Scope 3 category 1 (purchased goods and services) emissions, relying on a cost-based approach that didn’t reflect the quantities of materials they were procuring. They needed to be able to calculate all of their scoped emissions to stay compliant, and meet their NetZero targets.
Solution
Elastacloud enriched Murphy’s Dynamics data through the deployment of the scope 3 category 1 greener data accelerator, which provided a holistic and accurate picture of emissions. We identified and calculated the emission data for each material they were buying in its exact volume, rather than estimated via cost. Through data enrichments we were able to provide insights into other scope 3 category emissions. For example, by understanding transportation mode of purchased goods we could calculate emissions related to fuel and energy related activities (category 3) and upstream transportation and distribution (category 4). Calculating embodied carbon with data enrichments from the ICE DB and Defra we could also provide informative insights on end-of-life related emissions (category 12). Insights from biodiversity enrichment allowed improvements in tender success rates through minimised local disruption. AI models which forecasted supply chain disruption as a result of geopolitical issues and climate disasters allowed for cost savings through minimised delivery disruption. All data was landed in Azure Data Lake, intelligence built in Azure Databricks, and reports and dashboard insights generated with Azure Analysis Services and Power BI. Automated workflows were orchestrated with Azure Data Factory. The solution was built for robust extensibility and scalability as sustainability insights continued to be developed.
Impact
The value of the scope 3 category 1 solution was twofold: increasing revenue through tender success as a result of biodiversity impact disclosure and cost saving through the supply chain disruption model created. In addition to aiding the sales and procurement teams, this solution was also able to feedback into the Murphy Sustainability team’s strategic planning to highlight additional areas of action.
